<Two of our outfielders were futilely pursuing a fly ball and collided with each other.>
I was once party to just such an accident. I like to think I wasn't the party at fault, but...eh. Not likely.

My brother was on a little league team that one year won only two games. We just called them the most consistent team in the league and people figured that meant consistently good. Who were we to dispel their misconception?
Still loving your blog. Every time I read it, you make me laugh!

<p>Duchess, this humiliation is probably why you ended up moving to England. Stephanie, I'm impressed anybody would sacrifice a facial feature to catch a ball.</p>

Ooooh, our softball team was lousy. I actually broke my nose trying to catch a fly ball when it hit me square in the face - Josie Dimaggios we weren't!

I could have joined your team! I remember the humiliation of junior high soft ball -- the last time I ever played that sport. I had never, ever, not even once managed to connect bat with ball until one of my team members lit on the system of standing right behind me and shouting "SWING!" at the appropriate moment.

Improbably this worked, and I made a couple of hits, until the opposing team complained that it was unfair and I was back to the usual three strikes and out. I always wondered how this could possibly count as physical exercise.
