Austin, Texas novelist Ruth Pennebaker, who's old enough to call herself "fabulous," writes about family, politics, marriage, friendship, feminism, aging and whatever else occurs to her. Her latest novel, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakthrough, was published by Berkley in January 2011.

I’m glad you wrote that Ruth. She does deserve some fairness in judging her. That is why you are a writer and I’m a ranter. I really should read it and your piece does make me want to.
On a somewhat related, somewhat unrelated subject: I loved American Wife but had a hard time getting over the change of location, from West Texas to Wisconsin. The cultures are sooo different. Places are not interchangeable, they have a deep and lifelong effect on who we are.
