I must say your post made me feel envious. My husband and I used to live in Paris. We do love living on Cape Cod, but sometimes I miss the culture, and the variety of restaurants which both Paris and New York offer.

I am enjoying living through your experience vicariously. I've been to NYC several times, but there is so much to see and do there. Thanks for sharing.

In keeping with our roll out of suggestions, Marc just reminded me of the 'hands down' restaurant that we've had many extraordinary meals at with friends: it's in Chelsea on, I think, the corner of 26th Street and Eighth Avenue, on the corner. (I may have the exact cross street wrong) You'll know by the lines waiting to get in, but they move people in and out very fast.

We meant to respond to the multitasking article, but we were too distracted. Actually, now that I think of it -- I actually do have a Chinese place to suggest -- and it is not even in Chinatown.

I think you can find peace and quiet here if you pay enough, Sheryl -- but I shudder to think of how much it would be.

Craig, are you forgetting we were just in Houston?

About the Chinese food- if you hillbillies from Austin would ever come down from your west side hills and visit us city slickers in Hugetown you would know these
chopstick differences.

Ruth,
Your descriptions of this perfect scene makes me wants to sell my house in the suburbs and move to NYC permanently...and I just may! There's nothing that comes close to the excitement, pace, culture, food, people and turn -of -the- unexpected of Manhattan. Perhaps I'm a bit jaded, since I've lived there before - but being away makes me want to go back in a big way. The only thing that stops me is thinking about the things I will miss that NYC cannot offer...such as peace and quiet...
