not a parade, exactly, but I once stumbled upon a rehearsal for the posadas Christmas procession in San Antonio -- the one they do on the river, with the participants in boats. nobody was paying them *any* attention, perhaps becasuse everyone was dressed in jeans and T shirts, not in fancy performance attire. I, of course, loved the music and stayed there for the whole rehearsal. a good memory.

You are really becoming a New Yorker! I come from Virginia where you greet nearly everyone you see with a smile, a nod and a hello. When I came to NYC 12 years ago, I quickly learned that's just not how it goes!

Nice place to visit, but I'd need to regularly get away from the crush of so many people all in one spot. If you like it, though, might be hard to come back to all the quiet!

White glove, nay. White coat.

Beth and I once stumbled into a parade in Little Italy that propelled us into the scene in Godfather Part II in which the young Vito kills Don Fannuci. A terrific NYC experience of the feast of San Gennaro.

Don Fannuci, you may remember, was part of the "Black Hand." Perhaps black glove is the better image for NYC .

I love those parades in NYC. I've seen a couple different kinds and they are neat to run across.
